Dr Arvinder Grover (MBBS Hons FANZCA )
Specialist Anaesthesiologist and Adjunct Lecturer, Monash University
Dr. Arvinder Grover (MBBS, Hons) is a highly qualified specialist anaesthetist and fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA). Arvinder has extensive experience in the management of complex spine and brain surgery.
Arvinder graduated from Monash University and trained at the Alfred Hospital. He is extensively trained across various specialties of anaesthesia. Arvinder worked as a full-time specialist anaesthetist at the Alfred hospital where he established the first Perioperative Medicine Fellowship and went on to lead the Alfred’s Perioperative Medicine Service. Currently, he is a visiting medical officer at the Alfred hospital and all major private hospitals in Melbourne. His current practice is mainly Neurosurgery, Spinal and Orthopaedic surgery. Arvinder continues to mentor and supervise anaesthesia trainees and is an adjunct lecturer at Monash University. |
Arvinder works very closely with Dr. Oehme to ensure every detail is considered when you undergo your operation. As your anaesthetist, Arvinder’s role is to help you get through your surgery and anaesthesia as safely and smoothly as possible. He will call and meet you prior to your surgery, where he will ask you specific questions about your medical history and discuss your specific anaesthetic plan including risks specific to your surgery. This will also be an opportunity for you to discuss any issues or concerns you may have. Dr Lakmini (Lucky) De Silva (MBBS BScHons FANZCA )
Specialist Anaesthesiologist
Dr Lakmini De Silva (Lucky) is a specialist neurosurgical and spinal anaesthetist who regularly works with Dr Oehme at Epworth Richmond, St Vincent’s Fitzroy and St John of God in Berwick. Dr De Silva, or Lucky, has extensive experience in anaesthetising for complex neurosurgical and spinal surgeries.
Dr De Silva is a Visiting Medical Officer at The Alfred and Sandringham Hospital with a specialist interest in Neuroanaesthesia, Trauma and Ophthalmology. Her private practice consists of a combination of specialties including Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic, Ophthalmology, General surgery, Pain medicine and Urology. Dr De Silva studied post graduate Medicine at The University of Sydney graduating in 2005. Her Anaesthetic training was undertaken through The Alfred Hospital 2009-2013. |
Dr De Silva went on to pursue a Neuroanaesthesia / Neurotrauma / Neurointensive Care fellowship at Oxford University Hospitals Trust in Oxford, UK, where she stayed on to work as a Neuroanaesthesia / Neurointensive Care Consultant in 2014/2015.Dr De Silva’s interest in health care in other countries, both less and well developed, have taken her to Sri Lanka, China, Zimbabwe and Malawi with organized teams in areas of Perioperative medicine, Emergency medicine and Medical Education. Dr De Silva is a member of ANZCA, ASA, AAGBI, RCoA UK and numerous animal welfare organisations. She has a keen interest in improving the wellbeing of anaesthetists and junior doctors.

Dr Hayman is a specialist anaesthetist working in Melbourne Australia. He graduated from medicine at the University of Sydney in 1997 and was awarded a fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2007. He works as a visiting specialist anaesthetist in Melbourne with appointments at Box Hill Public Hospital, St Vincent's Private Hospital, Epworth Richmond & Eastern Hospitals, Melbourne Private Hospital, Warringal Private Hospital and Knox Private Hospital. Dr Hayman will discuss the anaesthetic for your specific procedure with you prior to your operation. He will customise an anaesthetic plan incorporating considerations of your current medical condition and general health and the requirements of the planned procedure. When possible, he will meet you in person or alternatively speak with you on the phone prior to the day of surgery to explain what to expect and to answer any concerns related to your anaesthetic care and management. On the day of surgery he will meet you again to explain any further details and to give you an opportunity to ask questions before your operation.
Financial matters
In most instances Dr Hayman’s fees will be covered by your health insurance, with a potential out-of-pocket ‘known gap’ payment. When a ‘known gap’ fee is charged, the maximum out-of -pocket expense will be $500. If your insurance does not provide a ‘no gap’ or ‘known gap’ scheme then there may be a larger out of pocket expense. This will be explained to you prior to the procedure. Please do not hesitate to ask Dr Hayman for clarification.
